BUSY AFTERNOON

The afternoon started with District 1 companies responding to a pole down with wires involved on Easton Avenue in the area of Lakeside Drive. While responding to Easton Avenue calls started to pour in from business on Worlds Fair Drive with fire alarms and smoke conditions being reported. Responding with Eng. 26-3 under the direction of Lt. Franzyshen and Ladder 26 under the direction of Capt. Fredericks crews investigated all 3 smoke conditions with help from Eng. 44-2 Eng. 28-1. Upon investigation of each smoke condition it was determined that overheating appliances from the power surge caused the alarms and smoke conditions. After a 3 hour break Stations 26 56 were dispatched to a reported brush fire next to a structure on Howard Ave. Arriving with a crew of 5 under the direction of DC Lipman Eng 26-3 found an abandoned transformer and an area of brush involved after workers attempted to dispose of the unit with a cutting torch. The fire was knocked down with 1 hand line. Command Car-56 requested Franklin Fire Prevention to the scene. While wrapping up the tones dropped again sending crews up onto Rt. 287 to assisted NJSP for a tree down across the roadway. The tree was cut up and removed from the roadway with all companies clearing approx. 2000.
