9/11 Memorial Dedication and Firehouse Rededication

pWith our construction project completed Station 26 celebrated with a dedication ceremony this past Sunday September 11 2011. Guests gathered within the newly constructed memorial plaza to celebrate the dedication of our September 11 memorial the rededication of the firehouse and the rededication of the historic monument to Franklin Twp. residents killed in action during World War II. A joint color guard of firefighters and members of Franklin Townships American Legion Post 478 raised the colors over the memorial plaza for the first time. President Chris Weniger spoke about the history of the firehouse and the significance of the recent renovation project. Commander John Deily of American Legion Post 478 offered words to honor those Franklin residents represented on our World War II memorial. Finally in remarks about the September 11th memorial Chief Joel Lipman urged the crowd especially the firefighters in attendance to let remembrance of the significance of this date come in the form of action rather than silence.brbrWith the ceremonial hose ribbon uncoupled by the Chief and President the firehouse was once again opened to the crowd and to our future of firefighters and fire service leaders.brbrOur thanks to American Legion Post 478 Reverend Steve Eckert all of our members Ladies Auxiliary members contractors and friends who made this date possible.
