Shortly after a thunderstorm came through the area Stations 26 and 56 were dispatched to a house struck by lightning and on fire at 625 Viscaya Court. Car 26 Chief Vladyka arrived and requested a 2nd alarm box 2656 for a working structure fire. Chief Vladyka reported heavy fire through the roof with multiple exposures. Car 26-B DC Lipmanarrived and assumed the Operations Sector. Engine 26-3 and 56-2 arrived and stretched 2 12 inch lines to protect exposures followed shortly there after by Ladder 26 which went to an aerial master stream to protect exposures and begin extinguishment. Through the hard work of our members assisted by Station 56 and other fire companies the fire was contained to the original fire building with some exterior damage to the surrounding structures. Station 27 East Franklin responded on the FAST assignmemnt. Stations 56 Somerset 28 Millstone Valley 44 Middlebush 55 So. Bound Brook and 23 Bound Brook responded to the scene. Stations 25 Community and 42 Manville provided the District 1 cover assignment out of Station 26. Station 26 responded to 32 Worlds Fair Drive with District 1 companies for a building collapse with entrapment. Due to early reports of the possibility of up to 17 construction workers entrapped Car 26Chief Vladyka requested additional rescue companies from Station 25 Community and Station 30 Finderne. Upon investigation the actual number of entrapped workers was confirmed to be only 2. Ladder 26 and Rescue 56 Somerset extricated the two entrapped patients and provided medical care. Both were transported to the hospital.
Firefighter Mark Lukac is a father. Mark Brent Lukac Jr. 8 lbs. 3oz. was born on July 5 2007. Junior and Mom are doing fine. Congratulations to the Lukac family.
Ladder 26 and Car 26 responded to 8 Buffa Drive for a structure fire. Upon arrival the truck checked for extension and ventilated the fire was contained to the garage area.
Station 26 participated in the International Fire and EMS Stand-Down On June 20th 2007. This years theme was READY 2 RESPOND. During our Stand-Down training members reviewed their turnout gear the tools carried by individual members as well as a back to basics refresher. Laying hydrant lines and hand line stretches were also practiced.
